Our Company Story

I started out as a terrible salesman for Owens Corning selling their basement systems in 2005 and within two months came close, dangerously close, to being fired. I realized the reason I wasn't selling was because I didn't know the system! At the time, I was broke and going through a divorce, so I looked deep inside me to realize that I wasn't doing the "work of thinking". I sat down for two days and memorized every word and wrote it out on a legal pad every line every question, so I knew where I was going. Once I knew where I was going and I could lead the customer to where I wanted them to be; while they were thinking that came up with the answers. Basically, by knowing the system so well I steered them to buy while not selling a thing. That next year I did 1.8 million in net business.

I came up the ladder at Owens to assistant sales manager, sales manager, and then to running one of the top five locations for them in the country; that's when they were on top. I pumped out of the office around 6.5 million net in a year to take one of the top five offices out of over 25 to 30 in the country. Then it hit 2008 and down, down, down we went. It was a road I didn't want to travel, so I knew I had to change. Again, I knew "I" had to change, so in March of 2010 I started Total Basement Finishing or should I say Total Basement Finishing started me.

It was not the easiest road less traveled, but one I know I had to do. I had to get my systems in place in conjunction with asking for help from people who are or LOL were smarter than me! I started as the salesman, production manager, marketing manager, call center, bookkeeper, and owner. Bob, my master carpenter, and friend was all I had. So here I am today with five unreal crews, a Master Electrician and Plumber that are so professional it is scary, three fine salesmen, an outstanding production manager, a logistic manager, awesome marketing manager, assistant marketing manager, bookkeeper, accountant, and my dog. We have just finished moving from a home office to an office/warehouse that is over 2500 sq. feet. The "work of thinking" finding people who can "do", so I can work on the business and not in it.
